This year’s 23rd annual Long Island Sound Citizens Summit reflects on the past and look toward the future. Join Save the Sound, the Long Island Sound Study, local, state, and federal representatives for a celebration of the 400th anniversary of Adriaen Block’s exploration of Long Island Sound. The Summit will then focus the discussion on exploring priorities for future action on the updated Long Island Sound Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan. In “breakout sessions,” citizens will have a chance to give their views on how Long Island Sound should be protected.
The keynote speaker will be Albert Appleton, Senior Fellow for Sustainability at Cooper Union Institute, and former Commissioner of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
