Event Summary: See Sherwood Island from the water! A morning paddle along the shoreline, led by Michele Sorensen, Coastal Kayak Instructor. Meet at the end of East Beach parking lot. Bring your own kayak or canoe, life vest, pump or bailer.
10:45am – 3:00pm Wonder of Flight/Air Trail
Event Summary: Join Don Lord, a pilot and radio controlled enthusiast, for an explanation of why things fly, with hands-on experiences from computer simulators & actual flying of radio controlled models. Meet at the Nature Center for morning demonstrations. At Noon, walk to Model Flying Site for live demonstrations.
12:30 – 1:30pm Educational Walk/Archaeology
Event Summary: Discover Sherwood Island Archaeology on the new History Trail, led by Archaeologist Cece Saunders. Points of interest will include terrain, traces of past inhabitants (Native Americans and settlers) and recent excavations.
2:00 – 3:00pm Nature Walk
Event Summary: Discover Sherwood Island! Go beach to beach along Long Island Sound with naturalist Louis Pietig, and discover habitats, inhabitants, and special features (9/11 Memorial, Model Flying Site, wetlands, pine forest).
