National Estuaries Day is an annual celebration of the vibrant coastal areas where rivers meet the sea – estuaries. National Estuaries Day is a great opportunity to learn more about these magical places how you can help to protect them. In our area, National Estuary Day events are being held in Poquetanuck Cove and Mystic Aquarium in eastern Connecticut and Alley Pond in Douglaston, Queens. There is also a beach cleanup in New Haven with estuaries day events in New Haven sponsored by Save the Sound. Go to estuaries.gov to learn more about estuaries and go visit one of these events or your local shoreline to enjoy our estuary!
