City Ducks

Dozens of ducks at the Rippowam River in downtown Stamford were seen resting on ice and looking for food  on a recent winter day. The spot is near where a large dam was removed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2009, part of a multimillion dollar project that has restored  the unimpeded flow of fresh and salt water, and the migration of fish to the upper reaches of the river. The location is about 1.5 miles from Stamford Harbor. Learn more about the Mill River restoration at Debbie Roberts blog post on the Native Plants and Wildlife Gardens website
