An aerial view of the Avalonia Land Conservancy’s Dodge Paddock and Beal Preserve in Stonington, CT. Through a Futures Fund grant, and with support from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Avalonia Land Conservancy will be planting native plants on a waterfront parcel it owns that was damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The brown areas are where phragmites, an invasive plant, were removed as part of the restoration. See article at ecori.org. Photo by Roger Wolfe/CT DEEP.
