The Long Island Sound Citizens Advisory Committee brought a recent quarterly meeting to Pleasure Beach in Bridgeport via a the Gustave Whitehead taxi. On the beach and peninsula the CAC members learned about Pleasure Beach’s history (it was once the site of an amusement park that was abandoned), and the city’s efforts to reclaim the beach for swimming, fishing, and bird-watching. The members also heard about Audubon Connecticut’s bird monitoring program at Pleasure Beach and other Connecticut shoreline beaches. Visit the city of Bridgeport website to learn about this special place on Long Island Sound and how to visit it by water taxi.
