Mamaroneck Town Supervisor Nancy Seligson describes the Town Center’s new parking lot, which was designed to control polluted runoff from draining into Mamaroneck Harbor and Long Island Sound. The project, funded through the Long Island Sound Futures Fund, uses a variety of green infrastructure practices, including porous pavers, catch basin filters, rain gardens, and rain barrels, to treat 32,000 gallons of stormwater during a typical rain event. Seligson gave the tour to the Long Island Sound Study Sentinel Monitoring and Climate Change work group last month during a lunch break from the work group’s quarterly meeting being held at the Town Center.
