Climate Change and the Long Island Sound Estuary

The Long Island Sound Study, New York Sea Grant, and the New York State Marine Educators Association are offering a professional development workshop for middle school teachers entitled “Climate Change and the Long Island Sound Estuary.”

This professional development workshop will be held on Thursday, October 2nd at 9:00am-2:30pm at Alley Pond Environmental Center in Queens, NY, a Long Island Sound Stewardship Area. Funding for this workshop was provided by the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration’s National Sea Grant College Program. Workshop participants will receive a $50 stipend to attend the workshop, with an opportunity for another $100 stipend if they complete a climate change activity with their students by January 2, 2015.

Seating for this workshop is limited to 20 teachers from NYC Department of Education – districts 4, 7, 8, 24, 25, 26, and 30. As such, interested teachers should complete and mail the workshop application to Amy Mandelbaum, Long Island Sound Study Outreach Coordinator for New York, by Friday, September 19, 2014.
