Pictured above is one of the many corporate groups, Swiss Re, that volunteered to help plant trees and shrubs at the Otter Creek coastal forest restoration project in Mamaroneck. The 12 acres of forest restored by the Westchester Land Trust was completed in 2018.
LISS started tracking restoration projects in Long Island Sound in 1998. By the end of 2018, a total of 2002 acres had been restored, reaching a goal to restore 2,000 acres three years ahead of schedule. Information on the Coastal Habitat Ecosystem Target and other restoration goals are available at the LISS Ecosystem Target and Supporting Indicators section of the LISS website.
