Every year, estuary programs from around the country celebrate National Estuaries Day on the last Saturday of September. In our region, Alley Pond, a New York City Park at LIttle Neck Bay in Queens, and a Long Island Sound Stewardship Area, has been the site of local celebrations for over a decade. This year’s festival on Sept. 28, from 11 am to 3 pm, will feature educational exhibits and interactive booths from various organizations and neighborhood groups. Bring the whole family to enjoy FREE boat rides, activities, entertainment, hands-on demonstrations, crafts, and fun games! At 12 noon, the center will also play host to a [intlink id=”thousands-to-toast-the-coast-nationwide-sept-28-2013″ type=”post”] “Toast for the Coast,”[/intlink] one of many similar events being held at estuaries throughout the country.
The event is put on by the Alley Pond Environmental Center.
