These collaborative videos were initiated by Town of Groton staff to support the education and engagement goals of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s general permit for the discharge of stormwater from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems, commonly known as the MS4. Partners of the video series includes Save the Sound and Project Oceanology. It was produced by Groton Municipal Television. Topics include how physical changes to our habitat and impervious surfaces have altered water paths, why clean water efforts must be regional, the importance of monitoring water quality in Long Island Sound, a description of Save the Sound’s Unified Water Study community based water quality monitoring program, and a description of the Soundkeeper program and how it watches for sources of pollution in order to protect Long Island Sound waters.
